Job summary

City of Belen seeks a Municipal Regulation Specialist (Code Enforcement/Animal Control) to enforce city codes and ordinances and coordinate with animal control services.

This full-time role offers a starting salary of $39,395–$44,012 with an 8:00 am–5:00 pm schedule. Requires HS diploma/ GED, 2 years in code enforcement, and NM driver’s license; certifications within 2 years preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 2 years in municipal code enforcement preferred.
• 1 year in inspections, investigations and land use administration.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
• Must possess a NM driver's license and be insurable.

Responsibilities

• Enforce local, state and federal codes for nuisance violations.
• Issue correction notices and citations; follow up.
• Patrol and inspect properties within the city and oversee animal control tasks.
• Maintain records and respond to public inquiries regarding zoning and permits.
• Work with the Director to address health and safety issues.
