Job summary

Fishbeck, Thompson, Carr & Huber is seeking a Municipal Intern for Summer 2027 in Lansing, MI. You will assist in designing water mains, sewers, and roadways for local municipalities, and use AutoCAD/Civil 3D to draft plans and estimates.

You will observe field conditions on site visits and collaborate with engineers across offices. We value strong communication and organizational skills, plus familiarity with CAD tools.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering program.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and Civil 3D is a plus.
• Previous internship or co-op experience is helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing water mains, sanitary sewers, and roadways for local municipalities.
• Perform design calculations, develop cost estimates, and draft plans using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Participate in site visits to gather data and observe field conditions.
• Collaborate with engineers across multiple offices and disciplines.
• Contribute to real projects that improve infrastructure and public services.
