Job summary

NJLM in Perth Amboy, New Jersey seeks an experienced and dedicated municipal finance professional to serve as its full-time Chief Financial Officer. The CFO will lead a complex municipal and utility finance operation, reporting to the Business Administrator, and overseeing budgeting, payroll, audits, and financial policy development.

Requirements include a CMFO certification, 5+ years of supervisory experience in NJ municipal finance, a relevant bachelor's degree, and proficiency in Edmunds

Qualifications

• CMFO certification is required.
• Minimum five years of supervisory experience in a New Jersey municipal finance office.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or business required.
• Proficiency in Edmunds Financial Software and Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and maintain relationships with colleagues, vendors, elected officials, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer annual operating and capital budgets.
• Prepare the Annual Financial Statement and Annual Debt Statement.
• Coordinate audits and maintain the general ledger; handle bank reconciliations.
• Oversee cash management, payroll, and grant/escrow reporting.
• Supervise finance staff and support special projects.
• Draft finance-related ordinances and resolutions; ensure compliance with NJ laws.
