Job summary

The City of Fountain Valley is seeking an Accounting Technician I to join the Finance team, performing financial record-keeping and reporting duties to support city accounting functions. The role involves processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, licensing, purchasing, and payroll with attention to accuracy and internal controls.

Applicants should have high school completion and some accounting exposure; municipal experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year of responsible customer service or public contact experience with accounting, bookkeeping, and cashiering desirable.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent; bookkeeping or accounting training desirable.
• Municipal experience in accounting duties is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, business licensing, utility billing, purchasing, and payroll.
• Maintain accounting records and assist in preparing financial statements and reports.
• Process invoices, purchase orders, and payroll; post and balance data in ledgers and journals.
