Job summary

State of West Virginia is seeking a skilled trades specialist to perform maintenance, construction, and repair work on HVAC units as part of a statewide department. The role involves preventative maintenance, minor repairs, and supportive projects across multiple facilities.

Under supervision, you will contribute to building and equipment upkeep, with travel as required. A standard high school diploma and relevant hands-on experience in building trades are essential, along with EPA refrigerant

Qualifications

• Graduation from a standard four-year high school or the equivalent.
• Three years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience or paid self-employment in heating, cooling, ventilation, building maintenance, or building trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, plasterer, welder, machinist, or masonry.
• Special Requirement: EPA-certified technician for refrigerant recycling as per the Clean Air Act.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled trades work in maintenance, construction, equipment repair, preventive maintenance and minor repair to HVAC units.
• Support centralized construction and maintenance across multiple statewide facilities; include repair to roofing, plumbing, electrical and related systems.
• Assist with specialized projects and other duties as assigned.
