Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Insurance, Office of State Fire Marshal, seeks motivated Maintenance/Construction Technicians to deliver journey-level maintenance across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and infrastructure systems at the ETC. You will diagnose repairs, ensure code compliance, and support emergency readiness in a 40-hour week with occasional after-hours work.

• Holds a North Carolina license in plumbing, electrical, or mechanical trades.

Responsibilities

• Electrical maintenance, repairs, and new installations on ETC training props while ensuring NEC and building code compliance.
• HVAC and mechanical systems maintenance including troubleshooting of steam, hot water, air conditioning, and chillers.
• Carpentry tasks including framing, roofing, flooring, drywall and finishing to meet NC Building Code requirements.
• Plumbing and piping tasks across fixtures, pumps, appliances, and water heaters with various piping materials.
• Operate and maintain water systems and swiftwater site operations for ETC training facilities.
• Maintain maintenance logs, inventory and documentation with code compliance.
