Job summary

Children's Home is hiring a Maintenance Specialist to oversee maintenance of all buildings and grounds, ensuring a safe environment for children and staff. The role covers electrical, plumbing, carpentry,HVAC and related tasks, with opportunities to collaborate during renovations.

The position requires 3+ years across three or more maintenance trades, excellent communication, and a valid driver’s license. Salary is hourly, with comprehensive benefits and growth potential within the organization.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' experience in 3 or more maintenance trades: electrical, plumbing, constructions, HVAC, or mechanics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, problem solving and organizational skills are required.
• Some working knowledge of computers is required.
• Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability throughout employment are required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tasks.
• Perform drywall repair and replacement, and painting.
• Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm) and ensure fire safety standards are met.
• Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
• Install appliances and equipment.
• Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks, filling gaps on walls etc.
• Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
• Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc., occasionally, as needed.
• Snow removal plowing and shoveling, occasionally, as needed.
• Perform cleaning activities as needed.
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g. ventilation).
• Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
• Complete reports and documentation that are required in a timely manner.
• Take initiative in observing and notifying the Maintenance Supervisor and Director of Facility Operations of maintenance problems or areas requiring attention, repair, replacement, servicing, etc.
• Communication: Maintain responsive professional communication within the agency and with community contacts and vendors.
