Job summary

AKG North America is seeking a meticulous Payroll Specialist I to handle multi-state payroll processing with accuracy and confidentiality. You will ensure tax filings meet federal, state, and local timelines, collaborate with HR and Benefits on hires, terminations, and deductions, and support audits with detailed documentation.

You will reconcile PTO, administer attendance programs, and provide payroll data to HR and Finance while staying current with payroll regulations.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in accounting, HR, business, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of payroll processing experience in a multi-state/multi-FEIN environment.
• Experience leading payroll process improvements.
• Proficient with Paylocity, ADP, or UKG and Excel.
• Strong understanding of wage and hour laws and payroll tax regulations.
• Discretion with sensitive data and ability to meet deadlines.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred to support diverse employees.

Responsibilities

• Execute biweekly and off-cycle payrolls per calendars and policies.
• Use checklists to ensure accurate payroll execution and compliance.
• Maintain audit-ready payroll records and tax filings.
• Collaborate with HR/Benefits on hires, terminations, deductions, and variable compensation.
• Review timecards, resolve discrepancies, and escalate issues as needed.
• Reconcile PTO balances and manage accruals; administer PA program with supervisors.
• Provide payroll data and reporting to HR/Finance; support audits.
• Participate in system testing and enhancements in payroll or HRIS platforms.
• Support site leaders with timecard approvals and policy enforcement.
