Job summary

AKG North America Inc. is seeking a meticulous Payroll Specialist I in the United States to lead multi-state payroll processing, ensure timely tax filings, and maintain confidentiality across HR and Finance teams.

You will support audits, improve processes, review timecards, and respond to payroll inquiries while staying current with wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, and system enhancements.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in accounting, HR, business, or related field (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of payroll processing in multi-state/multi-FEIN environments.
  • 2 years leading payroll process improvements.
  • Proficient with Paylocity, ADP, or UKG and Excel.
  • Solid understanding of wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and payroll best practices.
  • Demonstrated discretion with sensitive data, strong attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Process biweekly and off-cycle payrolls in accordance with payroll calendars and policies.
  • Maintain audit-ready payroll records and ensure accurate tax filings for federal, state, and local timelines.
  • Collaborate with HR and Benefits to process hires, terminations, deductions, and variable compensation.
  • Review timecards, resolve discrepancies, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Support audits and deploy system enhancements in payroll or HRIS platforms.
