Job summary

CLS Health is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support a multispecialty medical practice in Houston, Texas. The role involves rooming patients, updating medical histories, taking vitals, and preparing charts with attention to detail.

The candidate should be bilingual, possess strong communication skills, and be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Travel to CLS Health locations is required, and experience in a medical office or customer service setting is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be Certified or Registered Medical Assistant or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• 2+ years of Medical Assistant experience.
• Bilingual required.
• Willingness to travel to CLS Health locations.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room the patient.
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance and verify benefits reports.
• Prepare patient charts a week in advance.
• Scan documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Ensure rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at end of day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensure physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educate and inform the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedule patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtain authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.
