Job summary

CLS Health PLLC in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to support a multispecialty medical practice. You will room patients, take vitals, update medical histories, and assist physicians with procedures.

The ideal candidate has at least two years of Medical Assistant experience, strong communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Travel to other CLS Health locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation organization or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s)
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations
• Performs related duties as required.
