Job summary

CLS Health PLLC in Houston, Texas, is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant for a multispecialty practice. You will support clinicians by rooming patients, updating medical histories, taking vitals, and preparing charts.

The role requires at least two years of MA experience, certification or registration, and strong communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and insurance terminology is preferred. Travel to CLS Health locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant with a nationally recognized accreditation or graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
• Two years+ of experience as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience in a medical office or customer service environment preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance billing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Rooming the patient.
• Interview/update patient’s chief complaint, medical history, medication list, and take vitals.
• Prepares patient charts a week in advance and verifies benefits reports.
• Scanning documents to appropriate patient charts.
• Makes sure all rooms are stocked and clean before clinic, after each patient, and at the end of the day.
• Refill patient medications as directed by a physician and obtain Pre-Authorization/Determination for medications.
• Ensures that physician is in-network and authorized/up-to-date referral is in the patient's chart.
• Assist the physician in the exam room with any wound care and/or procedures.
• Follow up on calls/voicemails and document phone log/conversation.
• Educates and informs the patient of any DI, labs, referrals, and procedures physicians might have ordered.
• Schedules patients for upcoming appointments after the physician sees the patient.
• Obtains authorization prior to sending any orders when needed.
• Main fax line– Distribute faxes to appropriate team member(s).
• Travel to other CLS Health Locations.
• Performs related duties as required.
