Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Medical Assistant / Patient Service Specialist to join the clinical and administrative team in a multispecialty physician practice. Under supervision, you will prep patients, record vital signs, and support providers throughout visits, while also handling scheduling and EMR tasks.

The role requires strong customer service, good communication skills, and proficiency with EMR systems (Athena preferred) and Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an approved medical assistant/medical secretary program preferred.
• 1–3 years of medical assistant or medical secretary experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist providers with in-rooming and preparing patients for visits.
• Take vital signs and record in EMR with accuracy.
• Record patient history, medication lists, and visit details in EMR.
• Obtain consents and necessary forms for visits.
• Perform in-office testing and EKGs as ordered.
• Chaperone providers as required.
• Register patients in EMR and verify demographics and insurance information.
• Schedule appointments and testing per plan.
• Manage assigned work queues and triage calls.
