Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a Patient Care Technician to assist in delivering patient-centered care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. The role involves multi-skilled tasks to support daily patient needs within a high-acuity environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with patient care activities while following the Nurse Manager's directions, maintaining safety, and adhering to BLS requirements within two weeks of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required for PCT I.
• PCT II requires: associate or bachelor’s degree or 1 year in a .6 FTE PCT I position at MUSA CHS or 1 year healthcare experience or active enrollment in nursing school or healthcare field or CNA/CMA certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 2 weeks of hire and maintained thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Supports a decentralized patient-centered approach under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Performs multi-skilled activities to support patient care and achieve outcomes.
• Handles job responsibilities while rotating through shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Complies with hospital policies and E-Verify program requirements.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

Associate or Bachelor’s degree

1 year healthcare work experience

Active enrollment in nursing school

Active enrollment in a healthcare related field

Certified Nursing Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant Certification
