Job summary

Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to support a decentralized, patient-centered approach under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role performs multi-skilled activities to help achieve care outcomes.

Hours are 36 per week, on rotating 12-hour shifts, including weekends and holidays. BLS certification is required within 2 weeks of hire, with continued compliance thereafter.

Qualifications

• Patient Care Technician I: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Patient Care Technician II: High school diploma/GED and one of: Associate or Bachelor's degree; 1 year PCT I experience; 1 year healthcare facility experience; active nursing school enrollment; active enrollment in healthcare-related field; CNA or CMA certification.

Responsibilities

• Support decentralized patient-centered care under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform multi-skilled activities to support patient care and outcomes.
• Rotate 3x12-hour shifts per week, including weekends and holidays.
• Maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 weeks of hire and keep current.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent (PCT I)

Associate or Bachelor's degree (PCT II)

1 year healthcare facility experience

Active enrollment in nursing school

CNA or CMA Certification
