Job summary

Butler University is seeking a well-rounded Facilities Maintenance Technician to perform skilled work across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and data systems on campus. You will diagnose, repair, install, and preventive maintenance, while documenting activities and supporting team projects.

Requires a high school diploma and at least one year in a skilled trade; OSHA 10 and LOTO training, CFC and Pool Operator certifications, and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • At least one year in a skilled trade (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or data communications).
  • OSHA 10 and Lock Out Tag Out training required.
  • CFC Certification required for HVAC work; Certified Pool Operator for pool ops.
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
  • Ability to read safety procedures and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform semi-skilled and skilled maintenance across trades including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and data systems.
  • Handle service/diagnosis, repair, replacement, and preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Assist more skilled staff on larger projects and document maintenance activities.
  • Communicate with staff, faculty, and students to provide service and ensure timely work.
  • Work varying shifts; overtime may be required; essential staff during weather events.
