Job summary

The Port of South Louisiana is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Technician to support safe operation and upkeep of Port facilities, grounds, vehicles, and equipment. You will perform minor repairs across trades and operate a range of tools to keep facilities in prime condition. The role requires practical repair skills, reliability, and attention to detail.

Work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in building trades or related maintenance.
• Six semester hours in construction management/engineering or related courses.
• Ability to operate hand tools and power equipment and perform repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs to buildings and fixtures including plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical work, painting.
• Operate hand tools and power equipment (drill, sander, saws) per instructions.
• Assemble and maintain furniture and equipment per manufacturer specs.
• Repair lawn care equipment and perform routine vehicle maintenance.
• Maintain grounds and facilities including mowing and cleanliness.
• Operate tractors, forklift, and backhoe as needed.
• Provide general administrative support as required by supervisor.
