Job summary

Fairgrounds Coffee and Tea is expanding its food program across Chicago, seeking a Kitchen Trainer who works on the line and at the prep station to train café staff on food preparation, plating, and quality standards.

You’ll lead menu rollouts from recipe development through in-café execution, write SOPs, and audit kitchen performance. This role covers River North, Oak Park, and University of Chicago locations to ensure consistent quality and hospitality.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a commercial kitchen (line cook, prep cook, or junior kitchen leadership).
• Experience training staff and teaching recipes.
• Familiar with prep sheets and batch cooking.

Responsibilities

• Train café staff on food preparation, assembly, plating, and quality standards.
• Lead rollout of new menu items from recipe development to in-café execution; write and refine SOPs.
• Audit kitchen execution across three locations and coach in real time to close gaps.
• Establish prep schedules, par levels and batch production for cross-location consistency.
