Job summary

Mille Lacs Health System is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support clinic operations across multiple Mille Lacs Health System locations. The role includes rooming patients, taking vitals, administering medications, handling referrals, and assisting providers to deliver patient care the same day.

The position is day shift with rotating weekends, requires BLS, a valid driver’s license, and relevant certifications or licensure.

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required; travel between clinic locations may be necessary.
• Certification or registration from an accrediting body such as AAMA, AMT, NHA, NCCT (must pass certified medical assistant exam with six months of hire) or MN practical nursing license.
• Knowledge of nursing principles and medical ethics.
• Strong communication across disciplines and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Room clients: record height, weight, vitals, and complete documentation.
• Administer oral and injectable medications and vaccines.
• Process medication refill requests accurately.
• Handle scheduling, insurance verification, referrals, prior authorizations, supply restocking, and documentation.
• Store and administer vaccines per CDC/MDH schedules and patient records.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and waived lab tests.
• Coordinate diagnostic testing and referrals with physicians/PA/CNP.
• Contribute to quality initiatives and committee work.
• Mentor students, externs, and new staff.
