Job summary

Mille Lacs Health System is seeking a Clinical Assistant to support clinic operations, room patients, administer medications and vaccines, and coordinate referrals across multiple locations. The role requires familiarity with medical terminology and strong teamwork skills.

You will perform phlebotomy, EKGs and basic waived lab tests, assist clinicians, and participate in quality initiatives. Travel between Mille Lacs clinics may be necessary; BLS and nursing licensure or CMA/ARMA certification

Qualifications

• BLS certification required.
• Valid driver's license; travel between clinic locations may be necessary.
• Certification or registration from an accrediting body such as the AAMA or the ARMA or possess a Minnesota practical nursing license.
• Knowledge of nursing principles, policies and medical ethics.
• Excellent communication across disciplines and at various levels.
• Attention to detail, organization and prioritization skills.
• Basic computer skills and Word proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Rooming of clients including measuring height, weight and blood pressure, and documenting in medical records.
• Administration and documentation of oral and injectable medications and vaccinations.
• Accurate preparation and routing of electronic and faxed medication refill requests.
• Reception/Clerical tasks: scheduling, insurance verification, patient check-in, referrals, prior authorizations, supplies ordering and restocking.
• Proper storage and administration of vaccines based on patient records and CDC/MDH schedules.
• Perform and document Phlebotomy, EKGs and waived lab testing.
• Assist the Physician/PA/CNP with patient care through diagnostics and referrals.
• Data collection for quality initiatives.
• Serve on committees and task forces; support training for students and new staff.
• Willing to train and provide a productive learning environment for students, externs and new staff.
