Job summary

Eventual is building a scalable data platform for robot fleets, delivering real-time indexing over petabytes of video and sensor data. As a Software Engineer on the Data Systems team, you’ll help design and optimize a high-performance storage and query engine that powers frontier robotics and Physical AI research.

You will work on architecture powering line-rate dataloading to GPUs and distributed storage/compute, shaping the data platform used for model training and inference in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Experience building resilient, high-throughput distributed systems or database engines.
• 3+ years working on engine internals such as vectorized execution or query planning.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS S3) and data pipelines.
• Bonus: CUDA, GPU streaming, or video decoding frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Multimodal Storage (Data Lake): built against modern columnar data lake formats (Parquet, Iceberg) optimized for high-dimensional video, lidar and sensor logs.
• Query Engine: develop multi-stage query systems with partitioning, indexing, and embeddings for search and retrieval, including LLM/ VLM integration.
• Dataloading: optimize memory stability, throughput, and line-rate data flow to GPUs.
