Job summary

Eventual is seeking a Software Engineer on the Data Systems team to build a high-throughput storage and data engine for petabytes of video, lidar, and telemetry. You will work on indexing, distributed storage, and dataloading at line-rate to GPUs for model training and inference.

You will join a tight-knit startup culture that values execution and ownership, with in-person collaboration four days a week in our Mission District office.

Qualifications

• Proven track record building resilient, high-throughput distributed systems or database engines.
• 3+ years of experience diving deep into engine internals such as vectorized execution, query planning/optimization, distributed task scheduling, or zero-copy networking.
• Practical exposure to scaling cloud infrastructure (AWS S3) and managing heavy-compute data pipelines; bonus for CUDA/GPU streaming.
• High agency and adaptability to thrive in an autonomous, fast-paced startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Multimodal Storage (Data Lake): built against Parquet and Iceberg for high-dimensional video and sensor logs.
• Query Engine: build powerful querying capabilities and embeddings/vector search for perception-based predicates.
• Dataloading: improve memory stability and throughput with line-rate CUDA tensor delivery to GPUs.
