Job summary

The City of Huntsville’s Parks and Recreation department is seeking a qualified Multimedia Specialist to support computing systems, software, and a wide range of technology-based recreation programs at the Sandra Moon Community Complex.

The role includes planning, facilitating, implementing and supervising digital recreation activities, recording studio operations, esports labs, VR environments, and social media creation spaces, working with department staff and ITS personnel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
• Experience and knowledge of eGaming and related programs, hardware, software, Internet, Email, and networking theories.
• Security+ certification desired.

Responsibilities

• Support computing systems, application software and digital engagement spaces.
• Plan, facilitate, implement and supervise digital recreation activities.
• Oversee recording studio operations, social media spaces, gaming labs, esports programs, VR environments, and other technology-based experiences.
• Collaborate with department staff and ITS personnel.

Multimedia Specialist - Sandra Moon Community Complex Position Overview:

This position performs a blend of administrative, technical, and program‑leadership duties focused on supporting computing systems, application software, digital engagement spaces, and a wide range of technology-based recreation programs. Work involves the planning, facilitation, implementation, and supervision of digital recreation activities including recording studio operations, social media creation spaces, gaming labs, esports programs, VR environments, and other technology-based experiences. Work involves supporting and collaborating with the department staff and ITS personnel.

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred. High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency is required. Must have experience and knowledge of eGaming and the programs or events related to, personal computers, software applications, hardware devices, the Internet, Email, and networking theories and practices.

Sec+ certification desired.

CivicRec training is preferred by not mandatory.
