Job summary

The City of Edina in Minnesota is seeking a part-time Communications Coordinator (temporary position) who will assist in identifying communication issues and developing internal and external communications. The role includes managing city websites, CMS administration, Edina TV programming, press releases, social media, newsletters, and event support with photography experience and CMS skills encouraged.

A Bachelor's degree in journalism/communications and at least 1 year of related work

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations or related field.
• At least 1 year of related work experience.
• Photography and website and social media management skills.
• Valid Minnesota driver’s license or mobility equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly resident newsletter: write articles and take photographs; assist with production and distribution.
• Assist with management and design of the City’s websites: write/edit content; take photos; analyze traffic; CMS administrator.
• Manage the City’s employee extranet (Edinet): write/edit content; CMS administrator.
• Assist with Edina TV programming: scripts for programming; community bulletin board messages.
• Develop news releases for media and journals; interact with media as needed.
• Maintain and monitor City social media sites: write/edit content; analyze traffic; place ads/boosts content.
• Assist with production of newsletters, flyers, posters and other materials for print and electronic distribution.
• Take photographs and maintain digital asset management system; chronicle municipal events and programs.
• Help plan special events for the City and its departments.
• Prepare communication assistance in emergencies or disasters.
