Job summary

Teaching Matters seeks an Instructional Literacy (ENL) Multilingual Coach to work onsite with middle school teachers across NYC. The role focuses on coaching teachers and leaders in culturally responsive literacy practices to raise student outcomes.

The position emphasizes collaboration, workshop facilitation, and strong classroom instruction with multilingual learners, including ELL and MML experiences. A per diem/long-term full-time path is available in NYC.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-4 years experience as a Literacy Coach / Literacy Consultant – plus 4 years teaching Middle School ELA.
• Strong experience with multilingual learners.”
• Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving ambitious, measurable student results.
• Experience facilitating teacher teams / groups to achieve student outcomes.
• Dynamic presenter, comfortable engaging large groups of educators in professional workshops.

Responsibilities

• Coach teachers and administrators onsite in schools across NYC’s five boroughs.
• Create culturally responsive lessons, resources, and activities for students.
• Develop coaching plans based on needs assessment results.
• Differentiate support based on individual teacher needs and mindset shifts.
• Lead teacher teams to analyze data and improve pedagogy and student outcomes.
• Support school leaders in changing systems and communication to focus on student success.
• Build understanding of culturally responsive pedagogy and racial literacy.
