Job summary

Teaching Matters seeks an Instructional Literacy (ENL) Multilingual Coach for ELA K-5 in on-site NYC schools. The educator will coach teachers and administrators across the five boroughs toward culturally responsive literacy practice, leveraging ENL and multilingual learner expertise to close achievement gaps.

Ideal candidates have 3–4 years as a literacy coach and 4 years teaching K-5, with strong ELL/MLL experience and proven results in urban schools.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-4 years experience as a Literacy coach
• 4 years teaching K-5 - Literacy
• Strong ELL/MLL/Dual Language experience
• Strong literacy content knowledge with culturally responsive pedagogy
• Experience facilitating teacher teams to improve student outcomes
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• Advanced tech facilitation using Zoom and Google Suite

Responsibilities

• Coach teachers and administrators onsite across NYC elementary schools
• Develop customized instructional coaching plans from needs assessments
• Lead cycles of coaching to build key teaching competencies
• Differentiate support based on teacher needs and promote mindset shifts
• Facilitate teacher teams to analyze data and improve pedagogy
• Guide school leaders in redesigning systems for collaboration and student success
• Promote culturally responsive pedagogy and racial literacy
