Job summary

Michigan Association of School Boards is seeking a Multilingual Learner (ML) Facilitator for the Kearsley School District to help ML students achieve content targets while boosting English proficiency.

Collaborate with the EL Coordinator, teachers, and staff; work with students individually or in small groups; maintain organized electronic files to document progress. Strong communication and ability to pass LiveScan are required.

Qualifications

• Provide a list of work and personal references.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Must successfully complete a LiveScan Criminal Records Check.

Responsibilities

• Assist ML students with achieving content targets and improving English language proficiency.
• Collaborate with the EL Coordinator, teachers and staff to support multilingual learners.
• Work with students individually or in small groups under guidance of ELCoordinator and classroom teacher.
• Maintain organized and up-to-date electronic files documenting daily work and progress.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and advocate for linguistically and culturally diverse students.
• Attend professional development to broaden instructional practices for MLs.
• Support English language development for families through Adult ESL or summer programs.
• Assist EL Coordinator with additional tasks as needed.

Responsibilities Include:

The Multilingual Learner (ML) Facilitator will:

• Assist Pre K-12th Grade Multilingual Learners (ML’s) with achieving content specific learning targets while increasing their English language proficiency
• Collaborate with the EL Coordinator, classroom teachers and staff members to best support Multilingual Learners
• Work with students individually and/or in small groups under the guidance of the EL Coordinator and the classroom teacher
• Maintainorganized and up-to date electronic files as directed by the EL Coordinator to document daily work and student progress
• Possess a positive attitude, desire to build beneficial relationships amongst staff, students, and their families while displaying an understanding of and willingness to advocate for linguistically and culturally diverse students
• Attend professional development and actively engage and participate in broadening one’s skills and knowledge base regarding best instructional practices for MLs
• Support English language development for entire families by providing instruction and resources beyond regular school hours (Adult ESL classes and/or summer school)
• Assist the EL Coordinator with additional tasks as needed
