We are seeking a hands-on Multifamily Construction Superintendent to lead the field operations of a ground-up multifamily development in Garfield, New Jersey. This role is ideal for a proven construction leader who has successfully delivered large-scale wood-frame multifamily projects and thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.

Our client is a highly successful, family-owned real estate developer and self-performing builder based in Northern New Jersey. Founded nearly 25 years ago by family members with a background in construction, the company has evolved into a respected multifamily developer focused on delivering large-scale apartment communities throughout the region.

Description

• Site Supervision: Lead all on-site construction activities for a ground-up multifamily development from groundbreaking through final turnover.
• Schedule Management: Manage day-to-day field operations, ensuring the project remains on schedule, within budget, and meets quality standards.
• Team Leadership: Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and utility providers throughout the construction lifecycle.
• Safety Compliance: Oversee site logistics, sequencing, safety compliance, and productivity of all trades.
• Quality Control: Ensure all work complies with project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed project documentation, daily reports, punch lists, and progress updates.

Profile

• 7+ years of construction experience with a General Contractor, Construction Manager, Developer-Builder, or Multifamily Builder.
• Proven track record of successfully leading at least one ground-up wood-frame multifamily project with 150+ units from inception through completion.
• Strong experience managing large-scale residential, mixed-use, or multifamily construction projects.
• Thorough understanding of wood-frame construction methods, site development, scheduling, and trade coordination.
• Ability to lead field teams while maintaining strong working relationships with project management and ownership.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with a proactive leadership style.
• Comfortable working in a collaborative environment where accountability, teamwork, and flexibility are valued.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety best practices.
