Job summary

MD Smith Construction LLC in the Tampa area is seeking strong Superintendents to lead day-to-day field operations on projects ranging from $100k to $3M. You will manage subcontractors and in-house staff, and coordinate with clients, architects, and engineers.

The role requires reading construction plans and a solid civil/MEP knowledge base. Initial phone interview may occur for out-of-state candidates; in-person interview in Tampa is required.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years experience as lead superintendent
• Strong background in commercial and/or custom residential construction – multifamily, offices, senior living
• Wide breadth of trade knowledge: site, structural, MEP, finishes
• High school diploma (or equivalent)
• Proficient in reading construction plans
• Knowledge of civil construction
• Experience managing subordinates
• OSHA, CPR, first aid training
• Spanish speaking a plus
• 4-year construction management or engineering degree preferred
• Clean driving record
• Travel readiness

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day field operations on projects from $100k to $3M
• Coordinate with subcontractors
• Supervise in-house staff – ASMs, carpenters, laborers
• Interact with clients, architects, engineers
• Coordinate with project team on schedule and look-ahead planning
• Ensure safety and daily site log maintenance
• Maintain site security and NPDES/site upkeep
• Oversee inspections with AHJ and close-out/warranty processes

We are a small to mid-size general contractor/construction manager in the Tampa area. We are expanding and have opportunities for strong Superintendents.

Duties:

• Manage day-to-day field operations of $100 thousand - $3 million projects
\u003li>Manage subcontractors\u003li>Manage in-house employees – assistant superintendents, carpenters, laborers\u003li>Interaction with clients, architects, engineers\u003li>Daily interaction with other superintendents, Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers\u003li>Management of schedule, including weekly preparation of 3 week look-ahead\u003li>Coordination between trades\u003li>Dimension/layout verification\u003li>Verification of compliance with submittals\u003li>Interact daily with subcontractor superintendents/foremen\u003li>Daily focus on job site safety\u003li>Maintenance of daily log\u003li>Maintain job site security/perimeter\u003li>Maintain NPDES reporting/site maintenance\u003li>Management of inspections with AHJ\u003li>Be capable of working in a team or autonomously as size of future projects may dictate\u003li>Manage close out process and warranty responses with project manager
