Urban Genesis is a growing, vertically integrated real estate company that develops, constructs, and manages multifamily communities. Because we see the full life cycle of every asset, our teams are empowered to think like owners, move with urgency, and create communities residents are proud to call home.
The Opportunity
This is not a behind-the-desk property management role. We are looking for a dynamic, visible leader who can run the community like a business and lead it with the hospitality mindset of a great hotel manager. You will set the tone for the on-site team, know the residents, anticipate needs, solve problems with composure, and make sure every interaction feels personal, responsive, and professional.
The right person is equally comfortable coaching a team, reviewing financial performance, walking units and grounds, managing resident concerns, and creating momentum around leasing and retention. You notice the details, follow through, and raise the standard around you.
What You Will Own
Lead and Develop the Team
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain a high-performing on-site team across leasing, administration, and maintenance.
- Set clear expectations, establish productive routines, recognize strong performance, and address performance gaps promptly and directly.
- Lead from the front and create a culture of teamwork, urgency, accountability, and genuine care for residents and one another.
Deliver a Hospitality-Led Resident Experience
- Model a concierge mindset: welcome people warmly, remember the details, anticipate needs, communicate proactively, and close the loop every time.
- Own the resident journey from first tour through move-out, with particular attention to move-in readiness, service follow-up, renewals, retention, and resident events.
- Resolve concerns promptly and fairly, using thoughtful service recovery while ensuring every interaction remains polished and Fair Housing compliant.
Run the Community Like a Business
- Own the property's operating performance, including budget, net operating income, occupancy, rent growth, renewals, delinquency, collections, and controllable expenses.
- Use financial reports, leasing data, resident feedback, and market conditions to set goals, adjust strategy, and keep the team focused on leasing and retention results.
- Maintain accurate reporting, approve invoices promptly, manage vendors responsibly, and communicate clear performance updates to Regional leadership and ownership.
Protect the Asset and the Standard
- Walk the property regularly and inspect vacant homes, common areas, amenities, grounds, and back-of-house spaces with an exacting eye for safety, cleanliness, readiness, and curb appeal.
- Partner closely with the Maintenance Lead to prioritize service requests, unit turns, preventive maintenance, inspections, and capital needs.
- Keep the office, model, amenities, and available homes consistently tour-ready while ensuring compliance with company policies, lease requirements, applicable laws, safety practices, and emergency procedures.
What Success Looks Like
- A strong team: that understands the expectations, works together, and is coached to improve.
- Residents who feel known: informed, respected, and confident that concerns will be handled.
- A community that performs: with a clean, safe, tour-ready environment and healthy occupancy, renewals, collections, expenses, and NOI.
- No surprises: because risks are surfaced early, updates are clear, and commitments are closed with proof.
What You Bring
- At least 3 years of on-site multifamily property management experience, including direct responsibility for leading a team.
- A demonstrated ability to coach people, set standards, manage accountability, and build a service-oriented culture.
- Working knowledge of budgets, financial statements, leasing, marketing, renewals, delinquency, collections, and expense control.
- Excellent judgment, communication, conflict-resolution, and service-recovery skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
- Comfort with property management technology and Microsoft Office; Entrata experience is strongly preferred.
- Working knowledge of Fair Housing and multifamily operating requirements, plus a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for business needs.
- CAM or another industry certification is a plus. Hospitality, luxury residential, hotel operations, or customer experience leadership experience is also valued.
Schedule and Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site, Monday-Friday role. The Community Manager may occasionally respond to critical property needs or attend planned resident events outside normal hours. The role regularly tours indoor and outdoor areas, including stairs, in varying weather conditions.
What Urban Genesis Offers
- Competitive base salary plus an annual performance bonus opportunity of up to 10%.
- Company contribution toward medical coverage, with dental, vision, life, and disability benefit options.
- Paid time off, sick leave, company holidays, a 401(k) retirement plan, and a monthly phone allowance.
