Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a Mid-Level Scientist to bridge technical work and project execution. The role supports multidisciplinary research, coordinating people, resources, and deliverables across complex portfolios.

The successful candidate will serve as a technical contact for scientists, engineers, and sponsors, helping plan, execute, and communicate project progress while advancing laboratory goals and safety standards.

Qualifications

• BS/BA and 5+ years of relevant experience, OR MS/MA and 3+ years, OR PhD with 1+ year of relevant experience.
• Relevant experience is defined by supporting multidisciplinary scientific or engineering projects in research, national laboratories, academia, industry, or related fields.
• Advanced degree in chemistry, materials science, nuclear engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Background in processing chemistry, analytical chemistry, materials science, nuclear science, or related technical discipline is advantageous.
• Experience coordinating activities across multiple technical tasks, teams, laboratories, or organizations.
• Ability to translate technical information into clear project plans, status updates, presentations, and sponsor communications.
• Experience with laboratory operations, equipment planning, procurement, and facility coordination.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate technical activities across multiple research tasks, ensuring consistent methods, documentation, and deliverables.
• Assist planning and execution of laboratory, analytical, and technology-development activities.
• Serve as a technical point of contact for scientists, engineers, project managers, facility personnel, and sponsors.
• Identify and resolve technical, resource, facility, procurement, and schedule issues.
• Support laboratory planning, equipment needs, and facility modifications.
• Review technical documents and project deliverables for accuracy and clarity.
• Participate in project meetings, capture actions, and support follow-through.
