Job summary

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is seeking a full-time Multi-Unit General Manager to oversee two locations in our VA market. You will work closely with the founding team to drive growth, manage daily operations, and lead teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in food retail management, experience supervising staff, and a ServSafe Manager license. You will optimize scheduling, payroll, inventory, and ensure exceptional service while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a food retail management role.
• Prior experience managing a team.
• ServSafe Manager license required.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Able to push/pull/lift 50 lbs regularly.
• Stand for extended periods and walk stairs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Schedules and assigns stations for employees to complete store operations.
• Recruits, orients, and trains store staff.
• Coaches and evaluates staff performance.
• Monitors sales and forecasts labor to meet financial goals.
• Maintains customer service excellence and inventory levels.
• Ensures safety and cleanliness of the store environment.
• Rolls out new menu items to the team.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Multi-Unit General Manager to oversee two locations in our growing VA market. This is a great opportunity for a highly experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as they embark on their next stage of accelerated growth. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience operating food retail spaces (multi-unit or high volume single-unit), loves building and leading teams, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Completes store operational requirements by scheduling and assigning stations for employees
• Maintains store staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees
• Maintains store staff job results by coaching, counseling, disciplining, and terminating employees; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
• Achieves financial objectives by monitoring sales targets, maintaining budgets, and properly forecasting labor
• Upholds excellent standard of customer service
• Ensures availability of merchandise and services by communicating with vendors; maintaining inventories
• Maintains a safe and clean environment for customers and employees
• Rolls out new menu items to team members and communicates these changes throughout the retail space
• Processes weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner
• Orders and maintains uniform supply and successfully holds all employees to uniform standard
• Addresses all maintenance issues

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• ServSafe Manager Food Handlers license required
• 2+ years of experience in a food retail management role preferred
• Prior experience managing a team required
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skillsPossess dexterity to prepare and serve guests all menu items in accordance with established service and build-out standards
• Able to push/pull/lift 50 lbs of weight regularly
• Stand for extended periods of time regularly
• Walk up and down stairs regularly
• Stand, bend and reach for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment
