Responsibilities include reading blueprints, shaping materials, installing stairs and window frames, erecting scaffolding, and operating heavy equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent.
• Four years of construction-related experience in two or more trades.
• Ability to read blueprints and follow plans.

Responsibilities

• Study blueprints, sketches, or building plans for information pertaining to type of material required, such as lumber or fiberboard, and dimensions of structure or fixture to be fabricated; prepare layouts, using measuring tape, framing square, calipers; and marks cutting and assembly lines on materials.
• Shapes materials to prescribed measurements; assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with appropriate tools; verifies trueness of structure with layout tools; and erects framework for structures and lays sub flooring.
• Builds stairs and lays out and installs partitions and cabinet work.
• Fits and installs prefabricated window frames, doors, doorframes, weather stripping, interior and exterior trim, and finish hardware.
• Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level
• Certified welders should be able to read weld symbols and identify a weld meets specifications, have an understanding of maintenance and calibration of welding machines, understand proper handling of welding material and gases.
• Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping; and smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete, using straight edge and float or power screed.
• Finishes or repair concrete surfaces to specified finish, may specialize in finishing steps and stairways, or may break up and repair old concrete surfaces.
• Aligns material to specified connections; verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of materials.
• Qualified in rigging & hoisting of materials
• Performs millwright duties by reading blueprints and schematic drawings to determine layout of equipment; dismantling machines; moving machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks; and, assembling and installing equipment, such as shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Serves as a lead to Laborers, Construction Workers, and other Skilled Construction Workers by monitoring and assigning work to construction crew in the absence of a Foreman or Superintendent.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Field Safety Coordinator or HR Manager.
• Performs additional duties as assigned to support project and organizational success.
