Job summary

Handymans Directory is assisting Travis County with a full-time Building Maintenance Worker (Maintenance Technician) position in Austin, Texas. The role covers preventive maintenance, facility inspections, repairs, remodeling, inventory control, and related work across Travis County facilities.

The posted pay is $23.52 to $25.33 per hour. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with evenings, overnight hours, and holidays required when needed.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or GED and three years of building maintenance experience.
• Valid Texas driver's license required.
• EPA Universal Certification preferred or required within one year of hire.
• Criminal background, driving, education, and employment checks; fingerprint clearance.
• Ability to work with electrical, plumbing, masonry, carpentry, heating, and air‑conditioning systems.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on building systems and equipment.
• Inspect facilities and facilities interior and exterior for safety and operational readiness.
• Remodel spaces and construct cabinets and shelves; replace glass, light fixtures, and switches.
• Paint and seal building surfaces; move furniture and equipment as needed.
• Maintain time, materials, inventory, and supply records; report needs.

Education

EPA Universal Certification (within 1 year)
