  • Paint and seal building surfaces; move furniture and equipment as needed.
  • Maintain time, materials, inventory, and supply records; report needs.

Travis County is hiring a full-time Building Maintenance Worker, also identified as a Maintenance Technician, in Austin, Texas. The position is assigned to the Facilities Management Department and has a September 18, 2026 application deadline at 11:59 PM Central Time. The Austin position covers maintenance at various Travis County facilities. Daily work includes preventive maintenance, facility inspections, time and materials records, inventory and supply control, and repairs to buildings and equipment.

  • The job requires a background investigation that includes fingerprint clearance. Applicants may work around ladders and scaffolds, extreme temperatures, outdoor elements, dust, fumes, hazardous chemicals, foul odors, insects, rodents, and animal or human fecal matter.
Schedule And Physical Demands

Regular hours run Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Evening, overnight, and holiday assignments may be required, and business continuity work can extend beyond normal job functions.

The position requires lifting up to 100 pounds and carrying up to 75 pounds. Maintenance work also involves climbing ladders and scaffolds, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling tools, physical demands that align with O*NET's maintenance work profile.
