Job summary

Green Key Resources seeks a Sales Tax Accountant to support multi-state sales and use tax compliance, tax accounting, and related research. This role ensures accurate filings and supports audits, exemption certificates, and tax system maintenance.

The candidate should have a CPA a plus, 3–5 years of tax experience, GAAP knowledge, and proficiency with Vertex O Series, Vertex Returns, Oracle, and Tableau. Based in Melville, NY, on-site role emphasizing collaboration with internal teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field; CPA a plus.
• 3–5 years of multi-state sales/use tax or tax accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of sales and use tax compliance and tax research.
• General accounting knowledge and GAAP.
• Experience with Vertex O Series, Vertex Returns, or similar indirect tax software.
• Oracle and Tableau experience a plus.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review multi-state sales and use tax returns in accordance with state and local requirements.
• Prepare journal entries, perform account reconciliations, investigate variances, and make necessary corrections.
• Review purchase invoices for taxability and validate use tax accruals.
• Review and maintain customer sales tax exemption certificates based on applicable state requirements.
• Maintain tax configurations and transaction setups within Vertex O Series.
• Research sales and use tax rules related to various products and services and monitor changes in tax regulations.
• Prepare documentation and supporting schedules for external audits and assist with audit defense.
• Identify opportunities to improve tax compliance processes and minimize tax liabilities.
