Job summary

TeamPeople in Maryland seeks a Multi-Skilled Studio Operator to assist the Director in a studio and live playout environment for delivering News content. The MSO will operate various technical systems to facilitate such, and prepare the studio for productions, mic guests, and run the studio during broadcasts.

The core duties include troubleshooting, working with engineering on continuous improvements, and coordinating with the bookings team to track equipment.

  • Familiar with robotic camera systems (Vinten).
  • Experience with lighting concepts and lighting console operation.

Job description

The Multi-Skilled Studio Operator (MSO) will be responsible for assisting the Director in a studio and live playout environment to support the production and delivery of news content. The MSO will be operating various technical systems to facilitate such. This role is an integral part of the News Production team to get live programs to air. They will be responsible for preparing the studio for productions, micing up and handling guests, running the studio during productions, and troubleshooting as needed. The core technical skills required for this role are robotics camera operation, floor managing, audio, shading, lighting, and shading.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Setup and operate technical equipment in a safe manner as directed to support production requirements.
  • This may include cameras, lighting, sound, vision and graphics systems, and a range of other technical equipment.
  • Work with the Engineering team to support the needs of production by means of continuous
  • development and technical innovation.
  • Report technical issues to the engineering team in a timely manner so that problems are addressed quickly, and with minimal impact.
  • Work with the resource bookings team to track the location of key studio equipment and make it available for production use.
  • Work with other members of the team and facility to create new shows.
  • Dress IFBs, mic guests, and manage guest traffic on and off set.
  • Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Significant knowledge of production workflows, broadcast equipment and systems (including, but not limited to, cameras, sound, vision, lighting, graphics, post-production, media management, MCR and Playout).
Education & Experience
  • Previous experience in a multi-skilled technical operations role.
  • Familiar with robotic camera systems (Vinten).
  • Previous experience with lighting concepts and lighting console operation.
