Job Description
This position is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the process and all associated equipment.
This is a day shift position, hours 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with every 3rd weekend on call.
Position starts at $29.00 per hour
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate the process in a safe and reliable manner.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental rules and regulations.
- Communicate maintenance needs promptly to other departments.
- Maintain accurate and current files, and communicate relevant information to colleagues and supervisors.
- Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment such as grinding mills, sifters, elevators, bag houses, rotary screws, control panels, rotary gas dryers, heat exchangers, packaging equipment, and other process machinery. Skills may include welding, pipefitting, electrical, mechanical fabrication, and general repair.
- Maintain equipment in accordance with safety, environmental, quality, production, and cost control standards.
- Manage physical assets and repair parts, ensuring proper documentation and accountability.
- Communicate department goals and foster an environment of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI).
- Perform housekeeping duties.
- Ensure compliance with environmental permits and good neighbor principles by monitoring emissions and dust sources.
- Adhere to safe work practices, participate in hazard identification, and help update work procedures.
- Participate in plant-wide HSE, quality, and productivity initiatives, including safety committees and activities such as toolbox meetings, audits, and incident investigations.
- Perform any special projects or additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; good math and reading skills.
- At least three years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Some welding and fabrication experience.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Decisiveness and the ability to defend decisions under peer pressure.
- Strong work ethic, including attendance and attitude.
- Understanding of ISO management systems (e.g., 9001, 14001).
- Knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
