Job summary

Akima Facilities Operations (AFO) seeks a General Maintenance Worker for OSTI in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. You will perform general maintenance and repairs, including painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical assistance to support facility operations.

The role requires safety awareness, a valid driver's license, and prior O&M experience. The position is on-site with potential overtime; you will work with a team to keep buildings and equipment in peak condition.

Qualifications

• Valid state driver’s license.
• Three years’ work experience in O&M services.
• General maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment.
• Verbal and basic written communication skills.
• Basic working knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and painting.
• On-Call 24-7 response with the ability to respond to base emergency within 1 hour.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Supports the project Safety Plan through personal involvement in all aspects of safety, including training and attention to the adherence to safety requirements pertaining to particular trades.
• Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and building requiring basic skills and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical assistance.
• Keeps supervisor apprised of unique situations and problems encountered.
• Performs a variety of duties: as replacing cover plates, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings; painting structures and equipment and furniture moves.
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
• Assists other crafts and trades personnel in their daily operations.
• Mowing, Trimming, and Weed Control.
• Performs other tasks as necessary.
