Job summary

Dunbar Security Solutions in Richmond, VA is seeking an On-Call Security Officer to support multiple sites across the region. This part-time, on-call role requires flexibility to respond to staffing gaps, with 12-hour day or night shifts and a patrol-focused presence.

You will travel between sites, learn procedures quickly, and maintain professional conduct while covering short-notice requests from Wednesday to Sunday. Virginia DCJS unarmed registration and a valid driver's license are required.

Qualifications

• Virginia DCJS unarmed security officer registration is required.
• At least 18 years of age for Virginia DCJS registration.
• Previous security experience in a similar setting is preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel between sites.
• Availability Wednesday – Sunday, including day, overnight, and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

• Respond to short-notice coverage requests when scheduled officers are unavailable or shifts are open.
• Travel to assigned locations throughout the Richmond-area coverage territory.
• Learn each site’s layout, duties, post orders, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct patrols and monitor assigned areas according to site-specific instructions.
• Stay aware of activity and identify conditions that need attention.
• Report incidents and operational concerns to the supervisor.

Position Summary

Dunbar is seeking adaptable, experienced On-Call Security Officers to provide staffing coverage across multiple locations in the Richmond area. This role covers unexpected needs such as employee absences, illness, and open shifts. Officers must be comfortable reporting to different sites, learning new procedures quickly, and adjusting to changing assignments.

This is an on-call position. Work is offered based on staffing needs, and weekly hours are not guaranteed.

Requirements

• Current Virginia DCJS unarmed security officer registration
• At least 18 years of age (required for Virginia DCJS registration)
• Previous security experience
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between assigned locations
• Availability Wednesday – Sunday, including day, overnight, and weekend shifts
• Comfortable conducting outdoor patrols in varying weather conditions
• Strong observation, communication, and decision-making skills
• Ability to learn new instructions quickly and work effectively at different sites
