Job summary

UCLA Health seeks a Laboratory Technician 2 for the BURL Outreach Clinical Laboratory in Torrance to support phlebotomy services and general laboratory operations.

You will perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages, prepare specimens, coordinate couriers, triage samples, enter data into LIS/HIS, and generate specimen labels. Weekend/holiday coverage at multiple BURL locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Current California Certified Phlebotomy Technician certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy in a high-volume lab.
• Willing to work weekends/holidays; travel to multiple sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy on patients of all ages.
• Prepare specimens for analysis.
• Coordinate couriers and routes; follow-ups on delays.
• Triage lab samples and requests after information verification.
• Enter and verify patient/test information into computer.
• Generate computer labels for specimens and deliver to appropriate areas.
• Prepare samples for transport to referral labs or storage.
• Document draws, added tests, and cancelled/rejected specimens.
