Job summary

MedStar Health’s Washington Hospital Center seeks a qualified Medical Technologist for the blood bank, performing routine and specialty procedures and reporting critical patient results. The role supports two MedStar hospitals and adheres to quality and safety protocols.

The position requires a degree in medical technology or related science, ASCP MLS preferred, and solidVerbal and written communication skills along with basic computer abilities. Weekend rotations and early hours apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science is required; or
• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science is required; or
• 60 semester hours with specified coursework in Medical Laboratory Technology or sciences; training in clinical lab or 3 months in each high-complexity area required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special laboratory procedures in the blood bank; evaluates and reports results for patient diagnosis and treatment.
• Maintains inventory and keeps work area neat and organized.
• Operates and maintains laboratory equipment; troubleshoots issues and documents results per protocol.
