Job summary

The Arc of Central Alabama seeks an HVAC Technician to install, maintain, repair, and monitor heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across group homes, clinics, offices, and transit facilities. This role ensures systems operate safely and efficiently in alignment with CARF standards and EPA guidelines.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, EPA 608 certification, HVAC training or equivalent experience, 3–5 years in HVAC, a valid driver's license, and ability to travel

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• EPA Section 608 Certification required (Type applicable to work performed).
• HVAC training, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience required.
• 3-5 years HVAC experience preferred (multi-site or healthcare setting strongly preferred).
• Valid driver's license required.
• Pass statewide/criminal background check confirming no convictions for crimes of violence, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or any felony offense.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, maintain, and repair HVAC systems across multiple sites.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues and repair.
• Monitor system performance and recommend upgrades or replacements.
• Travel between multiple sites (group homes, clinics, offices, transit facilities).
• Respond to urgent HVAC issues and after-hours calls.
