Job summary

Hexion is hiring a chemical operator at the Hope, AR site to operate continuous and batch production facilities safely and efficiently. The role requires confidence in technical and personal abilities to positively influence peers and plant operations daily.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, quality incident investigation, real-time data entry, and collaboration with team members to meet production targets while adhering to SOPs.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a similar industrial manufacturing operation.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to work in a team.
  • Physical: walking, driving, standing, lifting 55 pounds, etc.; ability to wear a respirator.
  • Aptitudes: arithmetic operations and eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work practices and follow the Hexion Safety Manual.
  • Produce finished product to meet internal and external requirements by following SOPs.
  • Troubleshoot operational and quality issues; perform real-time data entry in MES, SAP, and Microsoft Office.
  • Unload raw materials and ensure proper handling and storage.
  • Independently complete day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision; support special assignments.

Position Overview

Responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of continuous and batch production facilities at the Hope site. A chemical operator should be fully (and demonstrably) confident of their technical and personal abilities and should be able to use their abilities to positively affect the personnel and plant around them on a daily basis.

Job Responsibilities

Safety

  • Ensures that safe work practices are followed; ensures Hexion Safety Manual is followed.
  • Participates in safety audits, training, inspections, and PSM/PHA activities.
  • Ensures that unsafe conditions are resolved in a timely manner, and communication of safety and environmental incidents are communicated.
  • Enters safety concerns into the system and to participate on the incident investigation teams to prevent reoccurrences.
  • Ensures excellent housekeeping is maintained at all times - both personally and as a unit team.
  • Demonstrates the ability to safely direct activities during unit maintenance and operational outages.
  • Willingness and ability to ensure that all team assigned safety requirements are met on a monthly basis and participate on the site’s Safety Committee as needed.
  • Ensures environmental policies and practices are followed and that spills are properly reported.
  • Ensures unit operations are maintained within permit guidelines.


Quality

  • Participates in the investigation of quality incidents and takes action to prevent recurrence. Ensures that manufacturing procedures are adequate and followed so product is produced in spec. and shipped to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrates analytical insight and knowledge of testing equipment and equipment utilized in the process area.

Production

  • Produce finished product at a level to meet requirements of both external and internal customers by following SOP’s.
  • Effectively troubleshoots and solves operational and quality issues.
  • Perform real time data entry using MES, SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc as needed to perform job duties.
  • Sample finished product, test and analyze results against specs.
  • Unload raw materials bulk and liquid.
  • Independently completes day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision and to complete other special assignments, with an appropriate level of supervisory involvement.

Leadership

  • Works well with others; promotes attitude of continuous improvement.
  • Independently completes day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision and to complete other special assignments, with an appropriate level of supervisory involvement, Practices Hexion Core Values in daily activities and adheres to all Company polices and procedures.
  • Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to maintain business coverage.
  • Work 12 hr rotating day and night shift including weekends and holidays

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Production Leader

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience in a similar industrial manufacturing operation requirement.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to work in a team environment.
  • Physical: Walking, driving, standing, lifting 55 pounds, sitting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, fingering, talking, hearing, and seeing. Ability to wear a respirator.
  • Aptitudes: Must possess the ability to understand the meaning of words and their ideas, as well as instructions and their underlying principles. Perform arithmetic operations quickly and accurately and possess eye-hand motor coordination.
  • Temperaments: Must have the ability to accept responsibility, perform duties under stress, adapt to situations requiring preciseness, and adapt to changing duties and responsibilities. Must be able to adapt to situations involving the interpretation of feelings, ideas, or facts; be able to influence people in the opinions, attitudes, or judgments; and be able to generalize, evaluate, make decisions, and perform repetitive work.
