Hexion Inc. in Alexandria, LA is seeking a Resin Technician to operate reactor equipment safely and reliably. You will use MES, Alexandria DCS, SAP and Microsoft Office daily, while developing hands-on technical and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities cover safety, environmental compliance, quality testing, production and shipping, and regulatory adherence. The role requires attention to detail, strong math, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced chemical plant environment.
Responsible for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of reactor and associated equipment. The job task includes being proficient in MES, Alexandria DCS system, SAP and Microsoft suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, etc). The Resin Technician should be fully (and demonstrably) confident of their technical and personal abilities and should be able to use their abilities to positively affect the personnel and plant around them on a daily basis.
Ensures that all Hexion safety practices and policies are followed during regular operations, unit maintenance and operational outages. Participates in safety audits, training, inspections, incident investigations and PSM/PHA activities. Ensures excellent housekeeping is maintained at all times - both personally and as a unit team.
Environmental ComplianceDemonstrates a working knowledge of the site air permit, water permit and discharge permit. Maintain unit operations within permit guidelines. Knowledge of hazardous and nonhazardous wastes generation and the proper disposal.
QualityDemonstrates analytical insight and knowledge of testing equipment and equipment utilized in the resin manufacturing and shipping processes along with storage tank areas. Participates in the investigation of quality incidents and takes action to prevent recurrence. Ensures raw materials are received per Hexion specification and finished product is shipped per Hexion and customer specifications and requirements.
Production & ShippingPerform real time data entry using MES, SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, etc as needed to perform job duties. Sample raw materials, in-process, and finished product. Perform required testing and analyze results against established specifications. Load finished product onto tank trucks following all Hexion policies and SOP’s. Offload raw materials from tank trucks to raw material storage following all Hexion policies and SOP’s. Perform minor unit maintenance under qualified supervision. Clean and maintain equipment per guidelines. Unload dry bulk raw materials and stage in production areas using forklift.
RegulatoryUnderstand and follow DOT, OSHA, EPA and other regulations.
LeadershipWorks well with others; promotes attitude of continuous improvement. Independently completes day-to-day tasks with minimal supervision and to complete other special assignments, with an appropriate level of supervisory involvement. Practices Hexion Core Values in daily activities and adheres to all Company policies and procedures. Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed to maintain business coverage.
High School Diploma or GED.
