Job summary

Birdon America, Inc. is seeking a Welder Class 1 to join our growing team at Birdon’s new Port of Pensacola location. Selected candidates will train in Bayou La Batre, Alabama for about 30 days before transferring to the Pensacola site.

The role involves FCAW/GMAW/GTAW welding on carbon steel and aluminum, reading blueprints, setting up equipment, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Travel reimbursement is provided.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a NAVSEA Tech qual #248 pre-employment weld test (2G and 3G).
• 3 to 5 years of FCAW on carbon steel, and/or GMAW on aluminum and/or GTAW on aluminum.
• Able to weld in 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G positions within 90 days of employment.
• Able to read blueprints and interpret weld symbols and instructions.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in shop, vessel, and confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW welding on carbon steel and aluminum components.
• Set up, adjust, and operate welding machines and related fabrication tools.
• Inspect welds for defects and ensure compliance with quality and certification standards.
• Read blueprints and interpret weld symbols to complete tasks accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and comply with safety procedures.
