Job summary

Townsen Memorial Hospital is seeking a PRN Multi-Modality Technologist to operate MRI/CT and other imaging modalities. The role supports physicians during diagnostic procedures, adheres to radiation safety standards, and delivers excellent patient care while maintaining sterile technique and accurate documentation.

The position requires an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology, Texas MRT licensure, ARRT certification, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate degree in Radiologic Technology.
• Licensed by the Texas Medical Board as an MRT.
• ARRT certification and BLS certification are required.
• Two years’ experience in more than one diagnostic modality preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic radiology procedures including X-ray, MRI, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound.
• Assists physicians during procedures ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.
• Maintains ALARA principles and radiology safety standards.
• Ensures accurate documentation and timely charging of services.
• Participates in quality control and department safety initiatives.

Job description

Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a PRN Multi-Modality Technologist to join our team!

The Multi-Modality Technologist is responsible for operating a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. The Multi-Modality Technologist position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic procedures, delivering exceptional patient care, teamwork, and adheres to radiation standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Performs diagnostic radiology procedures to include but not limited to X-ray, MRI, CT, Mammography, Ultrasound, IR exams
• Proactively assesses, identifies and responds to the needs of the patient for adjustment or intervention to optimize patient care, image quality and patient experience which includes: positioning, physiology, procedure preparation, and technical factors
• Modifies technical factors to achieve desired imaging results and recognizes complications and limitations associated with certain procedures
• Provides direct assistance to physicians during diagnostic procedures, including assisting with sterile technique
• Performs, when applicable, what is required to meet the needs of patient care which may be one or more of the following: transporting, registration, admissions, answering phones, contacting physicians, taking and monitoring vital signs, EKGs, starting IVs, etc
• Follows safety standards and conducts all imaging procedures accordingly
• Uses ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) to protect patients, staff and general public, and follows radiation safety standards
• Properly utilizes patient radiation protection and immobilization during diagnostic procedures
• Maintains proper sterile techniques for procedures, regularly practices aseptic techniques, and ensures compliance with radiation safety and infection control procedures
• Complies with job role, department and hospital/facility safety standards, practices and policies
• Identifies opportunities for corrective action and process improvement providing recommendations and contributes to meeting department and hospital targets for quality and safety
• Reports “near misses” and inputs errors promptly into appropriate hospital patient safety reporting system to improve processes and identify trends
• Ensures all imaging equipment has had quality control (QC) performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use
• Reports any malfunctions to management and regularly practices preventative maintenance procedures; calls for service if needed
• Assists with implementation and education of department-based safety initiatives and standards of practice
• Provides accurate and complete documentation of patient procedures
• Enters charges at the time service is delivered
• Actively participates in special projects, department initiatives or shared governance activities and seeks opportunities to expand learning with a focus on continual development

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Associates Degree or Graduate from a school of Radiologic Technology approved by the AMA
• Licensed by the Medical State Board of Texas as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT)
• Certified in Radiology by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT, RTR)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Two years’ combined experience in more than one specialty modality
