Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health’s Allen Hospital seeks a Multi‑Modality Technologist (CT & X‑Ray) for a PRN position. You will perform diagnostic imaging across two modalities, follow ARRT competencies, and maintain safety and quality standards in a fast‑paced hospital setting.

The role requires ARRT certification with state licensure, an associate’s degree, and ability to work across shifts and on‑call as needed. Prior EPIC/PACS experience is preferred to support patient care.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree from ARRT‑accredited institute or approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or approved School of Ultrasound/Medical Sonography (preferred).
  • ARRT Certification and Registration required.
  • Competent in two modalities via ARRT and to obtain certification within 12 months.
  • State licensure required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform imaging duties for two modalities (XR, CT) per ARRT competencies.
  • Operate equipment and manage workflows for two modalities.
  • Select imaging sequences per approved protocols and parameters.
  • Obtain patient history and required labs; document for practitioner; use point‑of‑care device for labs.
  • Apply safety principles to minimize risk for patient and staff; provide radiation protection.
  • Verify patient identification and validate orders.
  • When required, perform venipuncture and manage IV access; administer contrast/medications as prescribed; use power injector as needed.
  • On‑call as required.

Multi‑Modality Technologist (CT & X‑Ray) – Allen Hospital (PRN)

As a PRN “As‑Needed” position, the role involves performing imaging across two modalities (CT and X‑Ray) to produce diagnostic images for licensed practitioners.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform duties for two imaging modalities (e.g., XR, CT) according to ARRT, RDMS competencies.
  • Meet continuing education and clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards.
  • Operate equipment and accessories; manage workflows, procedures, and processes for the two modalities.
  • Select appropriate imaging sequences considering approved protocols and acquisition parameters.
  • Obtain patient’s clinical history and required lab work, documenting information for the practitioner; use point‑of‑care device for labs.
  • Apply safety principles to minimize risk to patient, self, and others for both modalities.
  • Provide radiation protection and modality‑specific protective measures.
  • Verify patient identification using two identifiers and validate the order requested.
  • When required, perform venipuncture and manage IV access.
  • When required, select, prepare, and administer contrast or medications as prescribed.
  • When required, use a power injector for medication administration following manufacturer guidelines.
  • Scheduled for on‑call as required.
Licensing / Certification
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT (required).
  • Competent in two modalities via ARRT and to obtain certification within 12 months.
  • Radiologic Technology (R).
  • Computed Tomography (CT).
  • BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire); must be obtained prior to direct patient care.
  • State licensure (required).
Education

Associate’s degree from an ARRT‑accredited institute or an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or an approved School of Ultrasound/Medical Sonography (preferred).

Work Experience

1 year of experience in a healthcare environment (preferred).

Training
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record (preferred).
  • Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) (preferred).
  • Radiology Information System (RIS) (preferred).
  • IV Contrast Administration (preferred).
Patient Population
  • Neonates (0‑4 weeks)
  • Infant (1‑12 months)
  • Pediatrics (1‑12 years)
  • Adolescents (13‑17 years)
  • Adults (18‑64 years)
  • Geriatrics (65 years and older)
Working Conditions
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads.
