Multi-Modality Technologist 2 – Rappahannock General Hospital

Candidates accepting a full-time offer of employment may be eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $20,000. Rules and restrictions apply. Internal BSMH associates are not eligible for sign-on bonuses.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of a multi-modality technologist is to perform any two imaging modalities or a combination of procedures, producing images for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.

Essential Functions
  • Performs duties for any two imaging modalities (e.g., XR, CT, MRI) and maintains required credentials (e.g., ARRT, RDMS).
  • Meets continuing education or clinical requirements as required by regulatory standards.
  • Operates equipment and is knowledgeable in workflows, procedures and processes of the two imaging modalities.
  • Selects appropriate imaging sequences with consideration of approved protocols and data acquisition parameters.
  • Obtains patient clinical history and appropriate lab work, ensuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner; use of POC device for lab work.
  • Applies safety principles to minimize risk to patient, self and others, and protect image quality and equipment.
  • Provides radiation and other protection specific to the modalities for the patient and others.
  • Verifies patient identification using two identifiers and the requested procedure by validating the order.
  • When required, performs venipuncture including starting, maintaining and removing intravenous access.
  • Identifies, prepares and/or administers medications/contrast as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Uses a power injector for administration of medication with approved vascular access device; follows manufacturer guidelines for infusion rates and pressure.
  • Scheduled for on-call as required.

Education
  • Associate's degree from an ARRT-credited institute or an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program or an approved School of Ultrasound/Medical Sonography (preferred).
Required Licensing & Certifications
  • Certification and Registration with ARRT or RDMS or CNMT (required).
  • Competency in two of the following and certification within 12 months:
    • Bone Densitometry (BD)
    • Breast Sonography (BS)
    • Radiologic Technology (R)
    • Computed Tomography (CT)
    • Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR)
    • Ultrasonography (S)
    • Nuclear Medicine (N)
    • Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography (CV) – grandfathered
    • Cardiac Interventional Radiography (CI)
    • Cardiac Sonographer (CS)
    • Vascular Interventional Radiography (VI)
    • Mammography (M)
    • Vascular Sonography (VS)
    • Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • Class A or Class B CDL for locations with mobile mammography program (where applicable).
  • BLS Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) (required at hire for certain locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at others).
  • State licensure (preferred unless required by state).
Experience
  • One year of experience in a healthcare environment (preferred).
