Role Overview

As a Maintenance Technician at Zekelman Industries in Rochelle, you will ensure the safe repair and rebuild of tube mill production equipment to maximize quality, uptime, rate, and yield. The role requires strong electrical and mechanical skills, troubleshooting expertise, and a safety-focused mindset in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift and Compensation

Shift: 3rd (11 PM - 7 AM)

Pay: $30.50/hour + Production Incentive + $5,000 Sign-on Bonus after 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical maintenance following safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Ensure safety equipment and guards are in place and operational.
• Monitor inventory and order parts as needed.
• Use maintenance management systems to track equipment status.
• Read blueprints and schematics for diagnostics and repairs.
• Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and quality issues.
• Execute repairs, preventive maintenance, and changeovers.
• Use precision instruments for diagnostics and fabricate repair parts.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
• Operate industrial trucks and cranes.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Follow OSHA regulations and promote safety culture.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience in heavy manufacturing.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Proficient with tools, measuring instruments, and technical documents.
• Strong mechanical skills, electrical systems, and PLC knowledge.
• Effective communication and basic math skills.
• Proven troubleshooting skills in a safety-conscious environment.
• Ability to pass testing, physical exam, and drug screening.
• Team-oriented with a collaborative approach.

Physical Requirements

• Lift/move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Stand/walk for extended periods.
• Bend, twist, kneel, crawl, sit, and reach as needed.
